Read picture graphs
What your child practises
Reading picture graphs: how many, which has the most or fewest, and how many more.
Newfoundland and Labrador Curriculum curriculum outcome: Data management (by Grade 3) · pictorial graphs with one-to-one correspondence
How we explain it
Children can open this short lesson before they practise.
- Read the title and labels first.
- Count the pictures or read the bar for each kind.
- To compare, subtract: bigger count minus smaller.
Example: 5 chose apples and 3 chose pears. How many more chose apples? Apples: 5. Pears: 3. 5 − 3 = 2. Answer: 2 more
