Oral History
Oral history is history that is spoken and heard. Indigenous peoples have passed down knowledge this way for thousands of years, and they still do today.
Elders share stories, songs and teachings about their people's history, the land and how to live well together. Listeners learn to remember carefully so they can pass the knowledge on correctly.
When a whole community remembers important events together, it is called collective memory.
